Portugal wins “Tourism Oscars”

For the first time in it’s history, Portugal has been voted the “Leading Destination” at the year ending 2017 World Travel Awards, considered by many to be the “Tourism Oscars” wrestling the award away from Dubai who had won for the last four years.

Portugal was also distinguished with having the best Tourist Board, Turismo de Portugal, and the best official Tourism Website www.VisitPortugal.com. The Algarve was also honoured with having the “World’s Leading Luxury Leisure Resort” for the Pine Cliffs Resort. Secretary of State for Tourism, Ana Mendes Godinho, said that the success was a “unique moment for tourism in Portugal”.
